The American Heritage Center holds more than one hundred collections related to World War II. These include the papers of Admiral Husband Kimmel, the commander of U.S. Naval Forces at Pearl Harbor in December, 1941, the Frank and Doris Hursley Papers, which contain radio scripts from the war years, the diary of a U.S. serviceman who was in the Bataan Death March, and collections related to Wyoming veterans and their service. The summer 1998 issue of Heritage Highlights will highlight a number of the Centers World War II collections.
The AHC is interested in acquiring additional WWII collections to document more fully this important event in our states and countrys history. The Center is particularly interested in diaries, letters, photographs, and other items related to the war effort, either relating experiences overseas or on the homefront. Anyone wishing to donate materials, or who knows of someone who may be willing to donate papers, please contact Rick Ewig, PO Box 3924, Laramie, Wyoming, 8207l, 307-766-6385, rewig@uwyo.edu.
